Muthu V Prakash is a scholar in Tamil classical texts and grammar. He has worked in several projects in various fields such as Tamil Mathematics, Famine and Hunger in Tamil society at the French Institute of Pondicherry. He has worked as an Assistant professor of Tamil in University of Texas, Austin from 2023-2025. His inter-disciplinary approach of Tamil literature provides the Tamil academic world with new views on ancient society, culture and language of Tamil. He has published several articles and books. Praising his effort, the Indian government has recognized and awarded him ‘young scholar of Tamil’ award in 2017. Prakash is working on an Atlas of meanings in medieval south India, using epigraphic records to map the transformation of meanings in terms of place and time. This will be an addition to the Atlas of metrology and he will also contribute to the stories around measuring instruments in the Archive of Mathematical Practices.
