Maharajabharathi Krishnasamy submitted his doctoral thesis titled “Maravar Poligars of Tirunelveli: Struggles and Destructions, 1736 – 1802”, awaiting public defence. Having extensively worked in Tamil Nadu State Archives and Historical Research for his doctoral research, his interests are focused on Colonial Studies and Local History of Tamil Nadu.  He is tracing the pursuit of the Great Trigonometrical Survey in the Madras Presidency during the early nineteenth century and trying to find out people’s response to the survey from the archival records in the Tamil Nadu State Archives, Chennai. He is also doing interviews with survey practitioners in different parts of the state.
