Gayathri is a research scholar in History at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, Kerala. Her research interests lie in environmental history, with a particular focus on Animal History,  especially in the context of Kerala. Currently she works on the quantification of the non-human and the wild, exploring historical processes through which nature and animals were measured, categorized, and governed.
