Dr. Abhilash Malayil is an Assistant Professor in History with the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala before joining, in February 2020, with Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. He is one of the few economic historians of Malabar interested in the histories of sharecropping, landed property, and rural markets. His work on the instruments of money-credit and farm labour during the late eighteenth century is very central to understanding the histories of standardization and quantification of labour and lives in this region. He is coordinating the history of standards in the Travancore state for this project.
